MILIYAH Making US debut at SAKURA-CON!
Known as “the charismatic leader of Japanese high school girls” and now marking her thirteenth year of career, MILIYAH (also known as Miliyah Kato) finally makes her US performance debut with SAKURA-CON at Washington State Convention Center in Seattle this spring (April 14-16, 2017).
Miliyah, also known as a fashion icon was named “WOMAN OF THE YEAR” by VOGUE JAPAN in 2010 and designing for her own apparel brand, KAWI JAMELE and jewelry brand MIRROR. She has been creating cultural trends, and her followers imitating her hair-styles, make-up and outfits are called “Miliyah-ers” and generated a phenomenal social movement.
Miliyah continues to wow her fans by a series of smash hits including “Aitai” released in 2009 with 1.8 million downloaded, and “Love Forever”, a collaboration with Shota Shimizu (Japan’s Top Male R&B Singer), with more than 2.8 million download which bench marked as the mega hit song in the digital era.
In 2011, Miliyah has also started her career as an author for literatures and published several full length novels, and she keeps recording music and speaks out for her generation by singing modern women’s love and complication. She is still admired by many high schoolers, and even named “Goddess” by working women in her own generation.
On March 1, 2017, she releases the Japanese version of “How Far I’ll Go”, the soundtrack of the hit Disney movie, Moana.
